Driving up the coast from Tel Aviv, is a great way to see the country. You can take the fast route 6, or the coastal road or the older inland route. If you are on the coastal road and need a place to stop off over night Dor beach holiday village is ideal. Don't be put off by the title "holiday village", as it is basically camping or sparse bungalows. The unique aspect of this village is the igloo shape of the bungalows. They are circular, have a partition down the middle, so kids and parents have separate areas. There is a basic equipped kitchenette, a good bathroom and shower, air-conditioning and T.V. The kids will love the shape! Out side your front door there are open grass areas for doing your own barbecue, together with plastic tables and chairs. You will be right on the edge of the beach, so you can spend the evening in front of your igloo looking at the sea scape with a glass of wine. Talking of sea, the village has a private beach which is quiet, secluded and child friendly. There are no waves as the semi-circle of beach faces a small rocky island which you can wade out to and search for crabs among the rock pools. There is no blaring music from some beach cafe, just sand and sea. There is a supermarket near by. There are a number of accommodation options, varying in price, from camp ground, to a large bungalow that sleeps between 2 and 7 people. There are also 5 igloos with a jacuzzi. Breakfast is not included but can be ordered from the local restaurant. Web site:
Where:
It is between Haifa and Tel Aviv. 30 min drive from Haifa, very close to Zichron Yaakov, Caesarea and other attractions of 'Hof HaCarmel' (like Habonim, Ein Hod, pre-historic caves etc.). If you have no other form of transport, it is possible to get a train to Benyamina and from there a taxi, but this is not ideal.
